So, for the past few weeks I have been taking a ballet workshop at Ballet Austin. I originally started taking their ballet workshops during 1L. I was inspired by the Australian teen dance show Dance Academy. This show is amazing, life-changing, and awe-inspiring. You can find all three seasons on Hulu. It starts off a bit slow and like a typical teen dance show. So, if you hate that shit, know that it gets WAY better. The second season is truly excellent television. The third season is a wonderful conclusion to the show. ANYWAY, some of my classmates also watched the show and we decided to take a ballet class together. It was AWESOME!

I recently decided to start ballet again because my physical health has been on the decline since I took the bar exam two years ago. I needed to MOVE. So I signed up, and I have just completed week three of the 6-week workshop. In addition to our barre work, we have begun working on pirouettes. Now, this is the third time I have taken this particular ballet workshop. Here are my current pirouette skills:
I have decided that third time’s the charm and THIS will be the workshop in which I finally manage to do a pirouette. Wish me luck!
Claire, you’re always so full of surprises! I love that you’re taking ballet, and the pirouette shall soon be conquered!!!

Claire, I love it that you are taking ballet. If there was an adult ballet class offered here where I live, I would sign up. I love all kinds of dance and my work life is so sedentary that I need to move! Also thanks for the tip about the show “Dance Academy”. It’s on Netflix so I’ll give it a go.
